We offer Spanish exams for CE at 13+ only. At 13+, we offer CE Spanish at Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 is aimed at candidates who have studied Spanish for between 30 and 40 hours, or who find the language difficult. Candidates are assessed in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
At Level 2, exercises in the speaking and writing components offer open-ended tasks which allow candidates to demonstrate knowledge of a range of tenses, should they choose to use them. We recommend that senior schools give clear advice to prep schools if they have particular requirements in this respect.
We also advise prep schools to liaise with senior schools about the levels at which candidates should sit the exam. They should also ensure that candidates are registered for the right level on the ISEB website so that the correct exam papers are sent to schools.
